A look is a code you can paste

A Sfuma recipe code is a short text code that carries an edit’s settings, never the photo. With the unlock, a Sfuma edit can be shared as a code like SF-2400-CCW0, and anyone can paste one for free. Paste it on another phone and the same look lands on another face, scaled to that face.

What does a recipe contain?

A recipe never contains the crop, Heal spots, Under-eye or any body edit (Chin included). Those are tied to one photo or one person and would make no sense on another.

Proof: the recipe format lists exactly these fields; body and heal edits are excluded by design.

How to share a look

  1. Finish an edit and tap Share look.
  2. Copy the code, or share a link. Optionally include the photo as a separate image.
  3. The other person pastes the code on the Home screen, or opens the link. Sfuma applies the look to their photo.

Pasting a code is free for everyone. Creating and sharing your own looks is part of the unlock.

Three steps: Share look, the code on a card, then Paste a look code and Apply

A recipe link looks like sfuma.cam/r/#SF-2400-CCW0. Everything after the “#” stays in your browser; it is never sent to our server. The page on sfuma.cam decodes it locally and offers to open Sfuma. If the app is installed, the link opens it directly.

Proof: the part of an address after “#” (the fragment) is never included in the HTTP request. The server only ever sees “/r/“.

Codes that last

A code is SF- followed by groups of four characters; the last group can be shorter, and an edit with more settings makes a longer code. Codes use a character set without the letters that get confused with digits, so a code typed from a screenshot comes out right. Every code starts with a format version, so later versions of Sfuma can keep reading today’s codes.

Proof: each code carries a version and a checksum, so a mistyped code is rejected rather than applied wrong; the website’s decoder is tested against codes made by the app.

Do you make looks people ask for?

A creator look is simply the code a creator’s own edit produced, like SF-24JG-CG7T-3C. Put it in a caption or a story, and anyone who pastes it gets the same look on their own photo. Nobody can pick the letters of a code: they come from the settings. If people ask you for your look, we would like to feature it and its code on Sfuma’s own channels. Mark your posts as an ad or a partnership wherever the rules ask you to. Write to [email protected] with a link to your work.
